History, 2011

May 2011 Caroline, Carol, Julie, and Larry head north to the Siskiyou Summit Handbell Conference. Diane Barnes, the organizer, has asked for an “LDZ-style” piece for some intrepid people to join us in playing. We bring “By the Light of the Silvery Moon”; the four of us play the bell parts, and five friends play the chime parts (Seijiactually has the fifth part, but is unable attend due to school – so we split his part, plus more chimes, five ways). We also play at the Handbell Ventures Open House later in the month. We meet Rosemary, who’s recently moved from up north to the Bay Area (after having met her in Ashland at the SSHC!), and she decides to join us!
June 2011 We decide to rehearse through summer… well, as often as vacation schedules allow enough of us to get together. We manage four rehearsals between June and August, and actually make progress.
September 2011 Julie decides to take her leave of us due to work pressures – we miss her constant enthusiasm and smiles… but Rebecca and Bob join us! We decide to work up the Lew Gillis piece “Pick a Winner” for the Valley Spring Ring and the Siskiyou Summit Handbell Conference.
October-November 2011 We find that we need another ringer for “Pick a Winner”… and Wil returns! Rosemary, meanwhile, accepts a new role as our Event Coordinator.

Mad arrangement generation continues as the “Core Plus” approach manifests itself. This month, it’s By the Light of the Silvery Moon, Good Vibrations, California Dreamin’, Spiritual Boogie!
